2013 Recap ~ A Year full of Memories

*FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR THE 2014 VIP or 12 days gifts*
Please see the prior 2 posts

Each year, we are blessed with an abundance of memories. Whether they are good or bad- we have 365 days (366 for leap year) in which we can make the absolute most of our lives. Seize every moment we breath and embrace every second that we get to see the world and all it's beauty.

Fortunately, we can't remember EVERYTHING that happens. I'm sure we can- but I'm glad there is that human fault that prevents it all from overwhelming us- Or else we'd all be even crazier than normal :)

Today, being New Year's Eve and all, I recollect on what has happened (that I remember ;) that has changed me and my family forever. Had you asked me in the late parts of spring how 2013 was shaping up- I would have told you that 2013 could go *&#$ itself.

Those really close to me know that there was some insane and crazy things that happened in the earlier parts of this year that just- well, it sucked. I couldn't understand WHY it was all happening- why did I have to go around this merry go round again. So, I questioned a lot and felt a good bit like I was scraping the bottom of the rock again.

In fact, I did finally hit the bottom this year. Finally, there was a straw that broke my back so to speak.

But I chose one word to live 2013 by : SHINE

So I looked for silver linings in everything I could this year.

I didn't exactly 'give up' but I cried out for help. To the unknown- Kind of like that song by Carrie Underwood "Jesus take the Wheel" - I did that in my own way. And I'll be darned if there wasn't the answers I needed all along- the light to guide and stop the crazy cycle of my life.
For some this is a spiritual awakening, for some it is the saving grace of God, others it is the turning point where you give your all to a faith or religion. Please fill in whatever your belief is here- But it was exactly the moment I hit the bottom and cried for help from the unknown that I found it.
I found my saving grace - so to speak.

I'm so extremely grateful for that moment back on May 26th 2013. It was the turning point of my and my kids' life- And the start of all the amazing memories of 2013 for me.
Thankfully it also is the reason why most of the bad stuff from the beginning of the year has become somewhat of a blur :)

So NOW- I say 2013 ROCKED!! Seriously! It just down right rocked!!

I lost 57lbs - Here is the picture that drove me to loose weight. Thanksgiving 2012:
I wore the exact same sweater this year to make up for the huge belly bulge I once had (and despite a bad angle it still shows the progress! WOOHOO! :)

My kids rocked my world and taught me so much! Mostly about the joy of life- the importance of what my role as mommy really is all about and unconditional love.
I gained a mentor - And grew one of the best friendships that a girl could ever have.

I learned a lot of lessons this year:

I learned to let go. I can't change people or situations- I can only change how I react to them.
It's not horrible to cut people out of your life, in fact it is necessary sometimes.
Getting rid of the drama is easier than it seems to be AND Saying no is really not as hard as it seems either.

And there is absolutely no shame is saying you need help- or getting a hand up in life. It is vital to keep climbing to the top.And a key to keep from falling back to the bottom :)
Friends are just as important as family- they are the family chosen not given to you, and are a vital part of life's support system.

I learned to date again- With my number 1 man Dallas of course :) I finally got up the nerve to go singing regularly in front of a crowd. I read more, meditated often and tried my best to always find the positives in every situation.
I was gifted with some of the best gifts and some of the most gracious acts of generosity came my way.
I finished some amazing custom order scrapbooks that I'm extremely proud of and sang more than I had in a long time.
We went (as a family- me and the kids) the movies - Monsters University, Frozen and Walking with Dinosaurs. We went camping (several times), on family outings and even traveled half the world.  We got back involved with the church group and found a way to give back to the world We went green and changed our eating habits. I EVEN PLAYED MOST OF 2013!! We had fun, plan and simple- we made the most of everything that we could and I smile tonight because I can truly 1000000% say in all honesty- 2013 REALLY did shine.

There are so many things we accomplished and did together. So many blessings I can count and things to be thankful for having this last year- It far outweighs the bad we encountered.
Things are looking up little loves- Mommy's got a plan that seems to be working for once :) And I can't wait to see what all we can get into in 2014!

4 and 5

*For those here for the 12 days- the gifts are toward the bottom*

Yep, I was absentee once again......And I honestly thought about telling you that you Jinxed me Stacey.....but you posted after it already happened.

My morning started fabulously- I got to skype with Johny and open my gift (AMAZING perfumes *sigh*)
Then I took the kids on papers and was surprised with a new awesome tool bag for all my craft tools and supplies :D
I was floating cloud nine.....

I had breakfast from McDonalds and blew a candle out of the top of my McGriddle. YES - I totally skipped cake ;) And then was playing with Dallas and his transformers after church.

Everything was going smashing- Until lunch.
I grabbed some leftover turkey from Christmas ( I was thinking it *should* still be good) And then made myself a sandwich with the new mayo (the olive oil one)
One of the two was bad and I haven't a clue which- since I threw both in the trash.

But an hour after eating, my body had NO problems what so ever in telling me that I ate something spoiled. *I chalked the tartness to the mayo...because well , it is a tad funny tasting*
Anywho.....My biggest birthday friend was a blue bucket....oh and sleep! LOTS of it.

Thankfully tonight I don't feel like I was even sick at all yesterday :) I'll consider today the first day of my new year in life (since I was born in the afternoon LMAO) And take *today's* health as the omen for the year to come LOL.

Anyways- back to the catch up.
I'll be doing my big post on my 2013 reflection in the afternoon Check the Previous post on your chance to be the 2014 VIP.

Since I am late on getting the 12 days started- I'm going to do the catch up in the next two days here with posts. Those that read my muse and daily blogging/recap- you can find all that wonderful stuff in the post below. (I have lots to share again ;)

The way the 12 days gifts work is basically the same as the advent- With the exception that all of these gifts are brand new and will be valid ONLY 24 hours before being put into the shop.
I previously hoped to make this a morning thing- but it turns out we're hitting the midnight EST routine with this as well.

I truly hope to take the joy of Christmas into the new year once again. I hope you enjoy!

Let the fun continue!

This morning was interupted...because Momma was allowed to sleep in once again :) The girls woke before me, but fixed their own breakfast and went straight to playing with their Christmas presents.
I could go for LOTS of mornings to go like this :)

After waking we got dressed and ready for the day, did a little tiddying around the house and then I lost them!! Not literally, but their aunt came and picked up all the kiddos for a birthday party.  Little did I know it was for some planned surprise early birthday lunch :) So this momma enjoyed LOTS of chinese food today.

I'm pretty positive I ate more today than I did on Christmas o.O
I'm also pretty sure this is why a new years resolution is to loose weight and eat right- Too much end of the year pigging out happens LOL.

Anyways, after the lunch and birthday party- We went out to start a true vacation full of fun!!
The girls go back to school on the 2nd and we have planned a fun day for everyday up until then.

The girls were gifted and tipped generously from their paper customers this holiday. When I divided up their first tips and gave it to them to spend....they all bought gifts for everyone for Christmas. The second time I did, they bought more gifts....so I knew where this was going. I didn't want them to just give away their earrings (while I absolutely adore their hearts and kindness) - I wanted them to be able to enjoy it, as it was a gift to them.

After much talk, we all decided it would be fun to pick something for everyone to go do and enjoy together. They got all the toys they asked Santa for, so something FUN to take a break and really embrace "VACATION"

So today we started and all went to the movies and watched "Frozen".

WE LOVED IT!! *sigh* it was so beautiful

Today's my birthday (The 29th) So we're going out to eat for breakfast after the papers, then the movies, then baking and going to see the light show one last time for the year.
I can't wait!!
MUCH LOVE AND HUGS!

Christmas Success!

I took an extra day than I had originally planned for "break".
Reason being, we didn't finish the family celebrations until tonight :)
Overall, I would have to say that this turned out to be one of the best Christmas's I have had in such a VERY long time. I got everything I could have ever wished for - fight free, drama free time, good laughs, great talks, tons of family love and togetherness, family happiness and smiles and VERY happy children that just made the world brighter....................Not to mention it ended up being a white one ;)

I'm going to do my holiday recap here, for those that read my personal part of the blog. The 12 days of Christmas post I will do seperate with a new collection tomorrow at 8 AM EST. We'll cover the gifts of the first 3 days then ;)

Christmas eve went awesome. Took the girls out to see their dad's moms' side of the family for their lunch. I sat with the kids and helped decorate mugs with them, and had an all around blast for the afternoon.

Then we went and did the papers, and the girls and I handed out some gifts for some of their special customers. Then it was time for me and dad to get our shop on!!! So we went into to Kmart and started around 7 pm. Now last year we went at 5 and was there til midnight- this year.....we were done by 10:30 :D

Home, got the wrapping finished- put the final touches on dad's tree and got the gifts all under it- Then home home by 11:30 :D YES- FINALLY a night where I am able to play Santa AND get sleep! LOL.
Except, while loading the tree and stockings- Dallas woke up. I love that he totally bought that "santa" had already visited and just left the boxes for mom to do the work cuz he was busy :)

Christmas morning....I got to sleep in!! YES- I got to sleep in!!! The kids woke early, and opened up their stockings but let me sleep before presents. Til 9 am!! When I asked why they didn't wake me "You needed sleep mommy, we can wait" AWWWWWWW

Then the pay off, that moment you work so hard for during Christmas. That big smile and awesome joy that just flows all around from the kids. THAT happened! It felt amazing!!!!

Then we all took off - The kids went with their dad over to his dads' house and I went to mine :) Cooking commenced!!! And man did I ever, but it was TOTALLY worth it. The turkey and ham was AMAZING!! I know I say I've had some good ones, but I've also had some bad ones. You know the kind I'm talking about- the ones that are so dry your running for the ranch or gravy to give it a little SOMETHING.
This one this year, OMG so juicy and yummy!! And the ham - OMG to die for cinnamon pineapple glaze. The cookies, the sides- Just yea, I pigged out.
That's saying a lot considering I don't usually eat what I cook (Some weird tick about seeing it all cooked and such makes me less hungry? IDK)
Best part of dinner at dad's, beside it being completely fight free and just happiness all around? - The joy the kids and my dad seemed to have.  (My daddy and nephew Cyrus)

I was gifted so very generously this year, a mini sewing machine from my daddy- candles and makeup from my siblings, clothes and jewelry from joe's family, a griddle, a mug from roxy, watch from stevie, earrings from dallas, oil burner from iggy and lots of gift cards for the kids and I to go out :)
So this entire weekend and next week is loaded with fun day events to fill up the Christmas vacation time they have from school.

Tonight, I am happy. It has been an amazing Christmas and I hope that yours was joyous as well! Thank you all for celebrating with me and my family. You have been an amazing part of my joy as well. I couldn't think of a better note to end the year off with. Birthday is just around the corner, literally tomorrow  :D And I can't wait to see what the next year of my life holds for me.

Christmas Eve is here!

It's Christmas Eve!!! YAY! It's here- ready or not ladies ;)

First to clear things up- Yesterday's gift was NOT a repeat gift. It was, in fact the second template for the double take set. So for those that downloaded and kept/opened you now have both templates :)

I didn't spend the day exactly how I had planned- Because that wonderful pizza that we enjoyed yesterday....well it tore us all up today. So I spent the day with upset tummied kiddos (which didn't last more than a couple hours) Then after papers spent the evening with Dad helping him through it. Thankfully it seems to move  quickly an already he and everyone else is on the mend.

But guess what that means? OH yes, another year I am going out on Christmas Eve with dad for shopping. I think I should just chalk this up to tradition - since we've been doing it so long LOL. Thankfully I got the rest of the stuff out of the way already :)

In the midst of caring for the ickies, I managed to get my bird prepped, plates prepped, dinner items for todays visits done and everything in lined :)

Today starts our celebrations, as we are doing a little birthday party for Snowbell (our Christmas baby from last year) then dinners for the kids' other side of the family and then our annual Christmas eve run (of course dad's shoppping too LOL)

So I will be taking the break starting now and be back after Christmas. Tonight's gift was a prior release in my store that retired out this year. We love Dr. Suess and read a few of his books today while lounging around- so it just seems the right kit to pass along.
Here is the preview, in case you already have or so you can see before downloading todays gift.

With Only 1 Day left until Christmas.....

Please note - each day's download will remain valid for 24 hours.
*With exceptions when noted*
Today's gift will be up Until December 25th 11:59 pm EST
After that point, it will be revealed, placed in the shop and a new gift will be given.
For those that missed yesterday's and the prior gift, here is what those two days had in store.

I wish everyone a VERY Merry Christmas!!! I will be back on the 26th and the 12 days of Christmas will commence.

I hope that your time is filled with love, smiles, kindness and things that make the heart happy. If you have no plans and aren't doing anything- Just take some time for YOU- Do something you enjoy- however small or big. Maybe a nice treat of warm tea and a relaxing bath, or watching the sunset in the park.
I hope that the time that comes, brings your soul some joy!

Much Love and Hugs!!!

2 more sleeps!

So I think back on the debate on which day Christmas falls on- earlier this month. Technically I have exactly 2 sleeps til it all starts here - So either way you look at it, it falls on both those days LOL.
Today, it was busy and awesome. Lots accomplished and just so glad to lay my head down tonight knowing I GET TO SLEEP IN TOMORROW!! lol.
After morning papers, Dad and I went into town to grab up some chocolate milk and pop. Well, I took the opportunity to go ahead and finish grabbing up the items remaining on the list for dinner *Check* then on the way back, we stopped off to look at something real quick and I ended up convincing to grab up some of his Christmas shopping! *check* - If you've followed before- you know well enough that Dad is usually the LAST hours of a store being opened on Christmas Eve (Last year we were in Kmart when it hit midnight LOL)
So to have people checked off the list is HUGE :D
Then we got the wall papering finished and the rest of the decorations up. I have come to a conclusion tonight however, the bottom half of every christmas tree dislikes me LOL. I blew out the lights on the dad's bottom (yep, just like I did my own earlier) So that got fixed up :)
Baking *Check* Wrapping *Check* Seriously- I'm so excited, because yes- while I might have been busy and constantly going- It means that come the next few days- I can really sit down and enjoy the company of family without rushing around worrying about something being done :)
We started tonight with our light show. :) The kids absolutely love it and it was a nice reward to have pizza and christmas lights after all the hard work they have been doing to help me at dad's house.
It's funny, because I became rather nostalgic tonight. I can remember as a young kid about Roxy's age - all of my family going over to the grandparents and doing something to help out. Those types of memories are ones that really stick with you for life.
Tomorrow me, the kids and dad are going to finish up his shopping in the morning. Then after papers I think I'm calling a family game night. We need it, one day of  nothing but fun and play.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Only 3 days left

I am doing it again :( I'm sorry - I got into some impromptu house renovating today and well....Yea it's taken over and will be all night long.
So over the summer I ran across this deal to grab up LOADS of wall paper for a really good price. I think like 20 bucks for over 30 rolls of wall paper. Anyways- the bargain lady in me couldn't pass it up because I thought, "I'll need that someday- I just know it"
Well that someday was today. After lots of decorating at my dad's house- I realized something just wasn't right. Something didn't give it the magic sparkle that made it look really 'pretty'. And then tadda- it hit me. There are two walls at dad's house that were wall papered by my mom about 20 years ago when they first moved in. And well....it'd seen it's better days for sure. I never really took note until trying to admire the decorating we had done.
Either way, I mentioned the fact that I had some....and dad's face lit up :) I knew then that he would like it to be done, so that's what I'm in the process of right now.
So I'll update again later on, once I've finished this little side project for him.
Plus side- Baking is completely done (even twice over since the dog got into the cookies I made and I had to REMAKE them o.O)
Wrapping is 3/4 done- still a bit to go, but it will be done tonight after I'm finished papering the walls
AND - Dinner stuff is in the bag :D I'm looking at light and it's B E A UTIFUL!
Hope yours' is just as well! And for those traveling this weekend, be safe and enjoy your Christmas celebrations!!

4 days to go!

I'm BEAT- seriously. I got the cleaning done today. By cleaning I mean the serious deep down every inch spring cleaning kind of clean. GRRRRRR is what I have to say to that. My muscles ache from scrubbing and climbing up and down all afternoon.
Plus side is- it's DONE- Decorating DONE
Dad's house is all ready.
You know, I'm beginning to really feel the exhaustion setting in from going back and forth from house to house getting them ready for the holidays to hit us. Good thing tomorrow we can all sleep in :D
The kids helped me like mad tonight, and are all out like lights, hopefully they too will want a nice loooooooooooong sleep.  After they wake tomorrow, we are going back up and finishing baking and cookie decorating- AND The traditional ginger bread house tomorrow with a visit to the courthouse for the house lightshow tomorrow. Can't wait :)
I'll do my updating in a seperate post tomorrow morning, I just want to shower and curl up in a ball and find visions of dancing sugar plums and such.
Hopefully everyone's cleaning, wrapping and such is coming right along. We woman are super woman you know- I don't know how we all manage to multi task and get it all done in the hustle and bustle- but here's to us!! KUDOS for being all kinds of awesome :)
I can't believe I'm about to say this.....but

Only 5 days left

Just a quick post and run tonight o.O
I managed to finish getting some stuff done, wrapping well under wraps and even the crafty gifts half done YAY! But tonight I am under a mess of hot glue, flowers and ribbons as I'm trying to finish up the treat bags for the girls school parties tomorrow. Need to get things laid out for the "Polar Express" trip in their jammies and still in the midst of baking too.
OH- and I'm practicing singing tonight o.O Yup, it's here....Right around the corner.
I'll have lots of pics and a better update post tomorrow - I'm sure the post will be a doozy LOL.

Only 6 days to go!

Wrapping has commenced :D I even conned my baby brother into helping me out YAY!
No, I actually went up and took decorations and lights up to finish up decorating dad's house and he said he would. *Whew* That's a little bit of a load off.

I have a night full of photo editing and crafting to finish. I figure I can alternate between the two and hope that it makes it go by faster LOL.

I took some time out this afternoon to sing a little. I recently stumbled upon a new artist and his music has been stuck in my head. Plus I have missed practicing with Jake. Now that little Lucas has come along, we haven't practiced- Which I completely understand :) I just needed a little music fix...and something to keep me prepped for the shows coming after the first of the year.
(So in case you want to hear how the voice has come along in the last year......I'm sharing :)

Tomorrow we are getting everything ready for the girls' Christmas parties at school. 80 treat bags to fill o.O And then it's more checking off on the 'to-do' list. Getting so close and I'm getting so excited!!

One Week Left

Alright ladies- time to get super serious here! Just 7 days left...and for some of us even shorter for other family celebrations.  So fess it up.....How behind are you REALLY? LMAO
I sat and did a roll call tonight on all the gifts, and did the whole checking the list. I can actually fully say happily that my list is covered! Everything asked for is either done or on it's way to the door in the next few days :D We adopted someone for Christmas this year on a whim last night, and I even got that shopping covered! NOW......the reality is I still have the homemade gifts to finish up and tied with really pretty/fancy bows. I have some book covers to finish and well....Yea I'm there are the procrastinated WAY too long point LOL.
I still have baking to finish, cleaning to do, all the wrapping, shopping with/for Dad, decorating the rest of dad's house and then Oh yea- Those stinking crafty gifts. BREATH! LOL - 7 days...we can do this!!
Today, I at least accomplished checking off my shopping list fully. So I'm counting a win :)
It's funny my music was mentioned yesterday, as today I went with Jake (my guitarist friend) to go visit another friend we hadn't seen in a VERY long time.  It was a nice pre craziness relaxer- as we also went out to eat and enjoyed LOTS of music and singing. Bring it on Christmas, I'm ready to roar ;)
Tomorrow- it's my holiday to-do list and a photo shoot :D I'm doing baby Lucas's and my kiddos Christmas photos. I can't wait to get my snap on.

8 days to go!

Tonight, I hope you don't mind.....but I want to get a little spiritual, mushy and personal.
As today, I was touched greatly in many ways : of the graciousness of people, and the ways of karma and how it works out.

In the beginning of the year I choose a word to live 2013 by.
SHINE

For those that know me personally, and followed along my blog of domestic troubles that I had a while back- You know that it hasn't exactly been the smoothest road.  To be frank, my life had become a REALLY bad dirt road with lots of holes and bumps.  Without going into long drawn out detail- I made a huge change this year and did a LARGE cleanup in my families circle. I pulled myself away from a lot of things and went into a new frame of mind - I only pushed toward things that would bring pure joy into our lives.

We've focused on ways to put back into the community- into those that appreciate what we can and will do. Once I took on this frame of mind, and we did what we could to fill a need to an appreciative heart, we found our needs starting to fill. In this weird way, making ourselves available to a need-we've found what we needed.
What I have found in the gifts both given and received this year:
It's not charity by definition, it is love coming in and a blessing to help your life smooth out the potholes.
It's the universe, god, (please put your belief in here) giving you a sign you are going in the right direction. It's a hand up the hills and bridge over the gaps.
It is a glorious light shining in a dark spot.

We give out cards, I do this event every year, we buy gifts for secret santa for the JOY of the season.
My heart swells and my eyes smile knowing that just MAYBE what we are doing is going to bring someone else the same blessing of love to shine a little light. The same kind of smile and excited feeling my kids had when getting gifts they wanted from a customer, The same happiness and emotional rush that came to me today when I received a large gift card to buy gifts with. The same love that reminds you that you're not alone, like I felt today when someone saw a need that we had and filled it.

I heard a quote today:
"A Nation can only be as strong as it's families"
And family is not by definition either, it is those that you choose to pull closer- the ones you take under your wing and you allow to take you under theirs. And it made me think of  bible verses I learned from my grandfather:
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Now I know that it's a KJV quote, and might not be within your belief context. But I have learned from my past year- That in order to really REALLY Shine- love fully, give plenty and seek joy.
Tonight I cry, tears of love and joy. Our Christmas season has truly become a merry and BRIGHT one.  Thank you so much for being a part of it with us, and helping bring me joy each night.

9 days left!

I am doing this post WAY early tonight.

I am just spent, and today was packed! First I went running around this morning with Dad in town- and visiting with my gorgeous nieces.

Then we cleaned and did the teacher gifts for the girls.Remember those straw wreaths I picked up cheap the other day?

Then we started on the doll house that I also found in the cheap crafty find I had not to long ago. The girls did it all- I just supervised and helped when I could. Crafting with 4 extra sets of hands in the pot makes for a very long and fun time ;)

Then we baked and are about to go finish the decorating outside. I got it partially done, but was interrupted by a sick bubba last night while attempting to finish :( So after I get this finished, I'm totally hitting the hay. I'll update with a new picture tomorrow :)

School tomorrow....maybe while they're gone I can get the rest of the baking done and some more presents wrapped.

With 9 days until the holiday.....

sorry this gift has expired
